IARC World Cancer Report: Cancer Research for Cancer Prevention 

The report emphasises that prevention offers the most cost-effective long-term strategy for cancer control. 

The IARC report provides the most up-to-date science on cancer, while the WHO report indicates how that science can be translated into public policies. 

WHO Report on Cancer: Setting priorities, investing wisely and providing care for all 

The report raises awareness that cancer is a preventable and controllable public health priority globally, and there are effective public health strategies for evidence-based decision-making.

WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control

The Convention is the first international treaty negotiated under the auspices of WHO. It came into force in 2005 and includes concrete measures to addresses the global tobacco epidemic.

WHO Global Strategy on Diet, Physical Activity and Health

This WHO global strategy was endorsed by all WHO Member States and addresses 2 major risk factors of noncommunicable diseases, namely diet and physical activity.

WHO Global Strategy to Reduce Harmful Use of Alcohol

This WHO global strategy was adopted by all WHO Member States and provides policy recommendations for national implementation in order to reduce the harmful use of alcohol worldwide.

European Council Recommendations on Screening

The recommendations note that screening programmes should be implemented in accordance with national law and based on the scientific evidence of risks and benefits.
