The Global Policy Committee represents the global arm of ESMO’s public policy initiatives. The Committee reports to the Director of Public Policy and is a member of the ESMO Public Policy Steering Committee. It addresses policy issues related to the practice and profession of medical oncology. The Committee coordinates ESMO’s activities with the World Health Organization and the United Nations. It leads multi-stakeholder projects that focus on key international issues such as cancer prevention and control, optimization of the oncology workforce, scaling-up national cancer control plans, and the inclusion of a core set of essential cancer services in national universal health coverage benefit packages. Through collaboration with ESMO committees and working groups, as well as ESMO’s global network of oncology societies, the Committee facilitates the sharing of knowledge, resources, and best practices worldwide for the benefit of the oncology community and people living with cancer.
